Born in 1982, Singapore, Ore Huiying is a self-taught photographer whose practice revolves around storytelling. She works mainly with editorial publications and also on personal projects. With photography, she aims to translate her experience into a collective one, creating images based on her subjective convictions.
Since 2008, Ore’s photographic works have been exhibited in photo festials, museums and galleries regionally as well as internationally (Singapore National Arts Museum, Singapore Arts House, Dali International Photo Festival, Gallery Lichtblick Cologne, HOST Gallery London etc). Ore received one of the best portfolio prizes in 2008 during the inagural Singapore International Photo Festival. In 2010, she was named one of the 10 Platform Emerging Photographers (Singapore) and selected to participate in the Asian Women Photographers Showcase in Angkor Photo Festival. Last year, she was nominated for the Sagamihara Photo City’s Asia Prize (Japan) and received a Select Award in the Kulua Lumpur International Photo Award. Most recently, she is nominated for the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu 2013 award in Singapore.
